RESIDENCE RENOVATION IN LONDON

  • Year: 2012
  • Location: London
  • Area: 460 sq.m.

Description

While keeping the basic layout of this typical London terrace house, some of the old interior walls are abolished, while others are replaced with less rigid partitions, creating a modern flexible interior. Instead of the main old structural interior wall, a new steel structure with stone and timber lining runs through the entire height of all 5 stories, housing storage, mechanical shafts and the fire place. The staircase becomes an important core feature, made out of steel glass and stone, to sustain transparency, allowing the lucidity of the light to flow throughout the house. All spaces are designed in detail with modern materials within an existing brick shell. Highly sophisticated technological equipment is installed within a residential environment.
