The lack of an orthogonal system in the existing shell of this house in Plaka, made finding a contemporary architectural solution a challenge. Therefore, the first step was to create a main orthogonal structure, in modern materials, which projects through all four levels of the building. The remaining tilted bands were filled in with grey cement, differentiating the old shell from the renovated shape. At the same time the perimeter walls of the building were reinforced from within with gunite and supported by metal columns. One side of the metal bracing has deliberately been left visible in the space.
